The beauty of being a freelance writer is having the opportunity to write about a wide variety of topics… it’s really hard to get bored when I get to write about everything from the elusive cloud, all the way to my favorite travel destinations or how to market yourself as a Realtor. No matter the topic, I love the challenge of researching, discovering, and crafting an interesting piece that will engage users. I love the variety of topics I find myself working on.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a favorite. I do. I really love writing about two things most: books and family topics. I mean, it’s no surprise really, these are my current (and maybe only) hobbies at the moment and I feel incredibly capable typing away about both. Don’t get me wrong, the cloud is interesting (and useful, turns out) but nothing gets me quite as excited as talking about what I love.
Family+Kid+Baby Freelance Writer Examples
As a freelance writer, I’ve been able to build a portfolio of articles, blog posts, and web copy related to babies, kids, and families. Some of my favorite examples include:
- RM Parent Contributor – As a contributor to the local, Northern Colorado parent magazine and guide, I’ve had the opportunity to write articles about my experience in parenting, as well as what relevant news for families and parents in our community.
- Birthday Keepsakes Blog – Birthday Keepsakes is an online retailer, selling unique baby and children’s gifts to parents in the United States. As the lead blogger on this site, I work to create
meaningful and search engine optimized content that gets shared across their platforms including social media and email marketing campaigns. - Project Smile and Vision – I’m proud to the Communications Chairperson for a local nonprofit, Project Smile and Vision. This organization works to provide low-income children in our community with needed dental and vision care for free. As the lead communicator, I manage the Project Smile website, social media channels, and email marketing campaigns to raise awareness and funds for the program.
And many more one-off blogs, emails, landing pages, and marketing material copy for business and organizations with target audiences that include family and children.
